The reporter is a background process that monitors the report stack looking for print requests. The process starts automatically on the local station when an action is performed that requires a document to be printed on that station. The running status of the reporter is indicated by the Reporter menu item in the desktop menu. It will show one of: Reporter [not running] or Reporter [local] or Reporter [a_station_name], to indicate it is not running, or it is running on this station and is servicing local print requests or is running on some other station (the station it is running on will be whatever is shown between the []'s).
Pressing the Reporter desktop menu item when the reporter is not running, will start it in local mode. Pressing it while it is running locally will bring up its status window which will look similar to this:
The list shown is typically empty, if not it will show a list of reports waiting to be printed. The Reports button is a useful shortcut to open the report stack.
